This page uses the name old name, Advanced Roadmaps, instead of Plans.
After we built and tested the new navigation for Advanced Roadmaps (See New Navigation EAP Strategy), we rolled the new interface out to all users. As part of our onboarding materials, we have a multi-step spotlight tour that showcases the many features of Advanced Roadmaps.
In order to revamp this tour, I:
- documented the steps that needed to be included in the tutorial
- used content testing tools such as Optimal Workshop to refine feature groupings
- refined copy to be friendly and warm when possible
- also called “writing with a wink” per Atlassian content guidelines
As a result of this change:
- more users complete the onboarding spotlight tour than before
- the tour is two steps shorter than the previous version
- it just feels better
